Baby & Child Dedication / Sunday, May 13th

Dedicating children is an ancient Jewish tradition adopted by the Christian church. When Jesus was eight days old,
His parents brought Him to the temple to be dedicated. This was an act of obedience and commitment by the parents
on behalf of the child. So it is with baby & child dedications at Kainay. You are presenting your child to the Lord
in a public act, expressing your desire to bring up your child to love God.

Some use water when they dedicate children and call it infant baptism.
We do not use water when we dedicate your children.
Baptism is reserved for those who have made a commitment to Christ and
desire to go public with their faith. Baptism and dedication have different functions.
The dedication commits the parents and the church to care for the child,
and baptism commits the believer to the Lord.
When your child makes a personal decision to follow Christ, we will be honored to baptize him or her.

If you would like to participate in the May 13th dedication,
you need to sign up and have all information needed,
including photos, to Sheree, on or before Sunday, April 29th.
