Full Name: Jeffrey Ryan Steele
Born where and when: November 6, 1977 in Royal Oak, Michigan
Family Stats: Wife Katie, married August 2002, Son Aiden born December 2003, Daughter Ella born December 2008
How I met my spouse: Someone from the church we were both attending fixed us up. The first time I called her she hung up on me (though she swears it was her cell phone dropping the call)
Spiritual Gifts: Teaching, Worship, and Sarcasm
How I ended up at Kainay: I had left my full time ministry in order to enroll in Grad School to work on my Master's degree. I was looking for something part time while I go to school, and Kainay advertised for a part time worship director. I served part time during the entire duration of my Master's degree, and upon graduating in May 2010 took on the role of Associate Pastor, taking the lead of the small groups ministry in addition to worship.
Favorites: Album: "In Between Dreams" by Jack Johnson. Artist: Rich Mullins. Movies: Harvey & Shawshank Redemption. Food: Pirogies. Cartoon Character: Homer Simpson. Bible Verse: Galatians 2:20.
How I spend my days off: Playing with my kids or working on my "honey-do" list.
Tell us about a funny moment either from your childhood or recent: Kind of a long story, it involves me, a pair of labrador retrievers, a toaster oven, and a waffle. You can get the full explanation on my blog: http://oddguitarguy.blogspot.com/2006/12/me-vs-waffle-snowball-effect.html
Most powerful book that I've read: of course the Bible. Also, "Your God is too Safe" by Mark Buchanan, and "The Pursuit of God" by A.W. Tozer.
Best Childhood Memory: Beating my dad at chess for the first time
Prized possessions: My beautiful Rosewood Taylor 815CE (that's a guitar)
Nobody knows that: I was a preschool dropout
Best way to make me laugh: Quote Monty Python
Best gift I ever received: Definitely my family
One thing I can't stand: The Third Day song, "New Song"
How I became a Christian: I remember very clearly my dad explaining the whole thing to me and deciding to be baptized.
I'd describe my faith as: enough for today.
