... a place to connect,    a place to grow,    a place to serve.
Kingdom focused
Ultimately, our goal is to honor and serve God our King. Revelation 1:6, Jesus made us to be a kingdom. He made us to be priests who serve God his Father. (ERV) We’re in the King serving business and so we’re to make every effort to please Him.

2 Corinthians 5:9, Our only goal is to please God … (NCV)

Authentic
This is one of the most “real places” you’ll ever experience. We welcome people here who struggle with addictions, with broken relationships, and with questions about God. No matter who you are, you’re welcome here.

James 5:16, Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. (Message)

Jesus said, "Healthy people don't need a doctor; those who are sick do. I've come to call sinners, not people who think they have God's approval." Mark 2:17 (GW)
We’re authentic.

Interesting
Have you ever been bored at church? I have! we do our best to be innovative, creative and engaging. We want you to have a great time when you come to Kainay.

Psalm 96:1, Sing to the LORD a new song … We do that and a lot more “new” things. Our ambition is to keep it fresh.

Matthew 7:28, After Jesus finished speaking, the crowds were amazed at his teaching…
If you’ll look closely at the way Jesus taught, He used multiple methods, He told stories, He used object lessons, and He used hyperbole to name just a few. Our goal is to emulate Christ by capturing our audience’s attention as well.

Non—Threatening
We want everyone to feel welcome at Kainay, so we do everything we can to create an environment that says, “You are wanted and welcome here!”

Colossians 4:5, Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

The four complaints and excuses made most by people who don’t come to church are:
1. The services are boring (we bend over backwards not to be boring).
2. The people aren’t friendly (we also bend over backwards to be friendly).
3. They’re going to ask for my money (we never ask for your money—in fact we invite guests not to give).
4. I don’t know if I can trust my child to the care of strangers (we bend over backwards to provide infant and child care that’s clean, safe and educational).

Our ambition is that you can feel comfortable inviting your friends, neighbors and family here and investing your time here. Our ambition is to give you something worth coming to and worth inviting your friends to.

1 Corinthians 9:22-23, I try to find common ground with everyone so that I might bring them to Christ. 23 I do all this to spread the Good News, and in doing so I enjoy its bles-sings. (NLT) These verses perfectly sum up our desire as well—common ground!

Applicable
We believe that God uses the Bible to transform us, and so we preach and teach how to apply God’s Word to our lives. James 1:22, Do not merely listen to the word ... Do what it says.

The messages you hear at Kainay are infused with Scripture and application. It’s not information that changes us, it’s application that changes us. So we do our best to help you apply the Bible to life situations and we challenge you to do so.

I hope you’ve been wondering what I’ve done with the Y. I must admit that was a doozy—I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to do with the Y. There aren’t many good Y words: yak, yo-yo, Yiddish, yammer, yawn, but nothing really matched what I was thinking.

I thought about yield; after all, we want to be more yielding to God’s design for the life of our church and our lives individually. I thought about yearn; again, yearning after God is an awesome thing. I even considered yoke because Jesus said we should take His “yoke” His teaching which He said is easy and His burden light.

Those things didn’t describe who we are though. The others are descriptive: We’re kingdom focused, we’re authentic, we’re interesting, we’re non-threatening, we’re applicable.

So I fudged just a little. The Y is:
CatalYst
Jesus’ last words to His followers before going to heaven were, “… go and make disciples …” Matthew 28:19 We are to be catalysts in the disciple making process—we’re to help people get there.

Our ambition is to be a catalyst to get people to move toward Christ Centeredness.
Colossians 1:28, We spread the message about Christ as we instruct and teach everyone with all the wisdom there is. We want to present everyone as mature Christian people. (GW)
